Individual Therapy for Grief
You don’t have to be alone with your grief. We will help you process your loss, find meaning, and heal.
Loss can be so lonely and so very painful. There isn’t one way to experience grief. In fact, it is different for everyone. For some, grief might feel like being in a downpour, for others perhaps being caught in a wave. Though it may be tempting for one to compare and judge their experience against others; with grief there is no right or wrong way, no one timeline for how long it should take. Just as each loss is unique, so is each experience. Fortunately, whatever your experience might be, you don’t have to handle the difficulty of loss and grief alone.
How we can help
Just as experiencing grief and loss is a unique experience that is different for each person, so is the therapy experience. Some will feel notably better after a few sessions, while others will require more time. It’s important that the therapy process fits you and your pace. Therapy for grief and loss will help you to express and honor your experience of grief and move through the tasks of grief, from finding acceptance of the loss to creating a lasting connection with what was lost while embarking on a new life.
In being witness to and helping individuals heal from the challenges that come from grief and loss, we know that healing is possible. When you’re ready to take steps towards your healing, we are ready to lend you my hope, so we can work together and spend the time and attention required on your grief and loss to get you on the path to healing.

How to get started
Request an Appointment
In order for us to get a greater sense of what you are looking for in treatment, what treatment might be best, and whether there might be a good therapeutic fit between your unique needs and the services our practice provides, we need you to complete an intake questionnaire. You can request an appointment here.
15 Minute Free Consultation
Sometimes it is useful for us to talk on the phone to discuss therapeutic fit, to better understand specific clinical needs, and to help with the intake process. Other times, this is not required and we can skip right to step three.
In order to accept any new clients, a series of paperwork must be completed, including things like a: consent form, emergency contacts, a financial agreement, etc.
A comprehensive clinical intake session is where a thorough history and background is collected about the person being evaluated and the various factors that may contribute to their presenting problem/reason for the assessment.
Things can get better.
“Each person’s grief is as unique as their fingerprint. But what everyone has in common is that no matter how they grieve, they share a need for their grief to be witnessed. That doesn’t mean needing someone to try to lessen it or reframe it for them. The need is for someone to be fully present to the magnitude of their loss without trying to point out the silver lining.”
— David Kessler, Finding Meaning: The Sixth Stage of Grief.
Some things you may want to understand
We are not currently accepting insurance as it is our preference to invest our time and attention to clients, as opposed to negotiating with insurance companies. This provides far greater flexibility in care and allows clinicians to meet clients’ needs first rather than the rigid, impersonal, and often arbitrary expectations set by insurance companies.
Depending on your personal preferences and insurance plan, you may still be able to use your insurance provider to pursue full or partial reimbursement for our services as an “out-of-network provider”.
If you have a PPO plan, you may be eligible to get 60-80% of each session reimbursed after you meet your deductible.
We are a self-pay practice and the rate for psychotherapy is $238 per session, billed to the client at the time of service. We accept most debit and credit cards, as well as flexible spending account (FSA) and health savings account (HSA) cards.
The benefits of modern technology allow for individual therapy to be administered over encrypted video conferencing, providing added convenience and security, all from the comfort of home. We are currently offering 100% telepsychology services.
We are currently accepting new clients for 100% online telehealth appointments from anywhere in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington DC, and Wisconsin
If you are ready to request an appointment, please fill out our intake request form. We assess straightforward factors like your demographic preferences and logistics such as scheduling. We also evaluate mental health history, prior experience in therapy, goals for treatment, and more.
