Individual Therapy for Relationship Issues

Relationships are some of the hardest things we do. Fortunately, they can get easier.

Some of us had good models growing up for what healthy relationships should look like. Many of us, however, did not. Are your relationships strained? Perhaps you have a hard time articulating how you feel or think and this causes problems in your relationships? Maybe you tend to hold things in until there have been many problems building up and then you express them all at once? When our relationships are constrained, life feels more difficult and isolating.

What if you could look back in time at your relationship difficulties and see them just as a moment in time? A time before you got the necessary help and skills to make them better over the course of your life. You could rekindle your relationship with a friend you fell out of touch with. You could establish appropriate boundaries with a family member who always seems to be testing them. You could have a better sense of how you’re thinking and feeling and what you need from your partner. Fortunately, therapy can help with these challenges, to help you develop the tools and insight needed to change relationships for the better.

How we can help

Relationships are some of the hardest things we do and take part of in life. Sometimes, we need others to show us the way to gain perspective and learn how to have different relationships with people.

Therapy can help you to gain greater insight into your own inner experience; how you’re thinking, what you’re feeling, and what your needs are, and how you can effectively express your thoughts and emotions in a healthy way in relationships. When you’re ready to step towards greater connection in your relationships, reach out, and we can work with you to build healthier connections to others. We are currently accepting new clients and respond quickly to inquiries.

Relationship Issues

Hi, I'm Dr. Amanda Mead,
licensed clinical psychologist

You have already taken the first step in seeking help - Congratulations! Let me help you the rest of the way.

I know personally how vulnerable it can feel. That’s why I bring optimism, hope, perseverance, and compassion to my clinical work and will walk alongside you in your journey to greater insight, self-awareness, and growth.

I am currently accepting new clients, so when you are ready, request a free 15-minute consultation to see if we would be a good fit to work together!

How to get started

Step 1:

Request an Appointment

In order for us to get a greater sense of what you are looking for in treatment, what treatment might be best, and whether there might be a good therapeutic fit between your unique needs and the services our practice provides, we need you to complete an intake questionnaire. You can request an appointment here.

Step 2:

15 Minute Free Consultation

Sometimes it is useful for us to talk on the phone to discuss therapeutic fit, to better understand specific clinical needs, and to help with the intake process. Other times, this is not required and we can skip right to step three.

Step 3:

Intake Paperwork

In order to accept any new clients, a series of paperwork must be completed, including things like a: consent form, emergency contacts, a financial agreement, etc.

Step 4:

Clinical Intake

A comprehensive clinical intake session is where a thorough history and background is collected about the person being evaluated and the various factors that may contribute to their presenting problem/reason for the assessment.

Things can get better.

“The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.”

Some things you may want to understand

We are not currently accepting insurance as it is our preference to invest our time and attention to clients, as opposed to negotiating with insurance companies. This provides far greater flexibility in care and allows clinicians to meet clients’ needs first rather than the rigid, impersonal, and often arbitrary expectations set by insurance companies.

Depending on your personal preferences and insurance plan, you may still be able to use your insurance provider to pursue full or partial reimbursement for our services as an “out-of-network provider”. ‍

If you have a PPO plan, you may be eligible to get 60-80% of each session reimbursed after you meet your deductible.

We are a self-pay practice and the rate for psychotherapy is $238 per session, billed to the client at the time of service. We accept most debit and credit cards, as well as flexible spending account (FSA) and health savings account (HSA) cards.

The benefits of modern technology allow for individual therapy to be administered over encrypted video conferencing, providing added convenience and security, all from the comfort of home. We are currently offering 100% telepsychology services.

We are currently accepting new clients for 100% online telehealth appointments from anywhere in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington DC, and Wisconsin

If you are ready to request an appointment, please fill out our intake request form. We assess straightforward factors like your demographic preferences and logistics such as scheduling. We also evaluate mental health history, prior experience in therapy, goals for treatment, and more.
