Individual Therapy

Are You Struggling and Unsure Where to Turn?

Maybe you’ve noticed some changes in yourself lately—feeling more on edge, disconnected, or weighed down. Life has a way of throwing challenges our way, and sometimes, they accumulate quietly, leaving you feeling off-balance without a clear reason. Perhaps you have specific concerns—struggles with anxiety, persistent sadness, or unshakeable worries that feel heavier over time. Or maybe you just don’t feel like yourself, even though everything on the surface seems fine. There’s a nagging sense that something is wrong, but it’s hard to pinpoint what it is.

Whatever the reason that brought you here, therapy offers a supportive space to explore what’s truly going on beneath the surface. Whether you’re managing a specific struggle or just looking for a sense of clarity and purpose, you don’t have to face it alone.

Finding Clarity Amid Life’s Challenges

Life can be unpredictable, and it’s common to feel overwhelmed by circumstances, big or small, that impact your sense of well-being. You may have been dealing with issues in silence, trying to stay afloat while juggling responsibilities, relationships, and your inner struggles. Therapy can help you sort through the complex emotions that come with life’s ups and downs, allowing you to gain insight, find relief, and begin to feel more connected to yourself.

At Polaris Psychology, we’re here to walk with you on this journey, offering compassionate support to help you feel seen, understood, and ready to navigate the challenges you’re facing.

Signs You Might Benefit from Therapy

Sometimes, it can be difficult to pinpoint exactly what feels off, but you know something isn’t right. Maybe you don’t feel as happy as you think you should, or perhaps you feel disconnected, like you’re no longer yourself. Even when things seem to be going well, it’s possible to feel like something’s missing, or like you’re stuck, unable to move forward.

Here are some common struggles people come to therapy with, even when they don’t have all the answers:

  • Life Transitions: Whether it’s a career change, moving to a new place, or shifting roles within your family, change can be overwhelming. Therapy can help you feel more grounded and confident as you navigate life’s inevitable changes.

  • Feeling Unfulfilled: Even when life appears to be going well on the outside—successful career, stable relationships, or personal achievements—you might still feel a lingering sense of dissatisfaction. Therapy can help you explore why you’re feeling this way and guide you toward a more fulfilling life.

  • Emotional Struggles: Sometimes, it’s hard to explain why you feel anxious, down, or overwhelmed. You might feel like you’re carrying around a heaviness or burden that you can’t shake, even though you can’t point to a specific cause.

  • Relationship Difficulties: Whether you’re struggling with intimacy, communication, or general relationship patterns, therapy can offer a space to explore and improve how you connect with others.

  • Disconnected from Yourself: There might be moments when you look in the mirror and don’t recognize the person staring back. You might feel lost or unsure of who you are or what you want, and that disconnection can be unsettling.

If any of these feelings sound familiar, or if you’re simply looking for a space to talk and explore, therapy can be a powerful tool to help you reconnect with yourself and discover what you need.

Therapy Can Help.

Therapy offers a safe, supportive environment to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. It can be a space to gain a better understanding of yourself, identify patterns that may be holding you back, and begin working toward change. Therapy helps you address challenges, even when they’re difficult to define.

What to Expect in Individual Therapy

Starting therapy can feel daunting, especially if you’re unsure what to expect. At Polaris Psychology, we aim to make the process as welcoming and supportive as possible.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Initial Intake: Your first few sessions will focus on understanding your background and what led you to seek therapy. Your psychologist will ask questions about your life, relationships, and feelings, helping to form a picture of where you’re at and what you hope to achieve.
  • Ongoing Sessions: As you continue, your psychologist will work with you to explore deeper issues, build coping mechanisms, and track progress over time. Therapy can vary depending on your needs—sometimes it’s about exploring emotions, while other times it may focus on practical strategies for day-to-day challenges.
  • Safe, Judgment-Free Space: Our psychologists create a safe, confidential environment where you can share openly without fear of judgment. Whether you’re dealing with a specific issue or simply feel something is off, therapy offers the space to talk, reflect, and grow.

Therapy is a process, and progress often comes with time. We’re here to support you every step of the way.

Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that starting therapy can come with a lot of questions. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive. If you need more information or have specific concerns, feel free to reach out to us directly.

Q: How do I know if I need therapy?

A: Therapy can be helpful even if you're not sure what’s wrong. If you feel like something is off, you're not as happy as you could be, or you’re struggling with certain thoughts or emotions, therapy offers a safe space to explore those feelings. Many people benefit from therapy even if they don’t have a specific diagnosis or major life event to process.

Q: Do you accept insurance?

A: Polaris Psychology does not accept insurance at this time, but we can provide you with documentation that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider to see if they cover out-of-network mental health services and to understand your reimbursement options.

Q: How much does therapy cost?

A: Each individual therapy session is $250. Payment is due at the time of the session. We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and FSA/HSA accounts.

Q: What happens during an individual therapy session?

A: In a typical session, you’ll meet with a licensed psychologist who will guide you through conversations that help you reflect on your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Therapy is a collaborative process where you work together to identify patterns, challenges, and goals. The sessions are designed to help you gain clarity and find healthier ways to cope with difficulties.

Q: How long will I need therapy?

A: The length of therapy varies depending on your individual needs and goals. Some people benefit from short-term therapy to address a specific issue, while others find long-term therapy helpful for ongoing personal growth and self-discovery. Your psychologist will work with you to determine the best approach for your situation.

You Don’t Have to Navigate This Alone

If you’ve been feeling like something is off, but you can’t quite put your finger on it, you’re not alone. Many people seek therapy for exactly this reason—to explore what’s underneath those feelings and to get back to feeling like themselves again. Whether it’s subtle dissatisfaction or a sense that things just don’t feel right, individual therapy can help you find clarity and begin the path toward a more fulfilling life.

At Polaris Psychology, we are here to support you with a compassionate and nonjudgmental space where you can explore your feelings and discover new ways of understanding yourself. Our psychologists are committed to helping you through every step of your journey.
